Mom & Dad (a Personal Experience) We moved them from one side of the country to the other. They are in their 80's. They have been able to make necessary changes and a major transition with much more ease than it otherwise would have been in their case. In preparation for the move they gave up many items that held dear memories. They were items they no longer had any foreseeable use for and would continue collecting dust. Click here for pictures. By the time we helped them complete the process they were actually excited about the move and their new home 3000 miles away from a home they shared for more than 50 years. They found the changes and move to be a bit stressful, but with our help a welcome and uplifting one. With items that they forgot about we found new uses and moved those with them. They still have fond memories surrounding them with belongings they chose to keep along with a new environment that is more beneficial to their well-being. We have since worked with Jeanne's parents accomplishing the same goals. They are in their 70's. It was a bit easier with them for the reason that they already live near us on the same coast. The optimizing objective served the same purpose as it did for Gary's parents. When helping our parents sort through years of memories we were able to share memories with them. The real beauty is that they have been able to choose what has become of their belongings while they are still willing & able instead of future choices being made for them by default. They have taken an active part in passing many of these items on to others & witnessing the joy that they now bring to others. They have the peace of mind that the remainder of their personal estate will not fall subject to complete sudden loss, torment, or arguments as could be without this arrangement. With our help our parents have been proactive for healthy living.
